A process to shift out of negative emotion

Hey there!

You know what a negative emotion feels like. It feels bad. And it shows up for many different reasons. The reason is not the issue. The issue is, how can you feel better and get yourself out of it. This actually happened for me, so I wanted to share how I was able to shift myself out of my negative emotion without needing anyone else.

  1. Stay conscious. Don’t allow old past behaviors to direct you. Stay in the moment.

  2. Feel it. Admit it. You feel bad. With so much pressure these days on being happy and positive all the time, this may feel uncomfortable to actually just be ok with feeling bad. (the Law of Attraction isn’t instant so allowing these feelings won’t create more bad). The key is not to stay here for long though.

  3. Tell yourself you are willing to see this differently.

  4. Ask yourself, what if everything is OK? What if this is for you and in time, you’ll know why.

  5. What is going right for you?

  6. What are you looking forward to? What’s something exciting you have planned in the future?

I shocked myself to see how simple this process was. I was in the middle of a work out and as I was doing all the steps above and feeling so much better, I thought, man, I have to write this out and share it! I also thought it was important to notice what I didn’t do.

TRY NOT TO: (I say try, because this new habit will take some practice)

  • Distract yourself

  • Push it away

  • Pretend you’re fine, when you’re not

  • Go down a rabbit hole of what else is wrong with this person, situation or yourself

  • Complain about it to others (this work is best done alone). If you can’t share the problem you had and how you solved it, then you aren’t ready to talk about it yet

  • Get stuck in the negative spiral. Staying in this negative feeling will bring more unwanted things to you

We can often tell ourselves we shouldn’t feel this way. I don’t find that helpful. You feel how you feel. It was empowering to me to know that I AM in charge of my feelings. And much of what caused me to feel better was where I was placing my thoughts.

Remember, all thoughts create form on some level.

Anyway, I hope this little process will help you the next time you feel bad. The only way you’ll know is if you try it. 😉👊

All my love and support,
K 💛
