Hello amazing friend!
This one is brought to you by my latest teachers Rupert Spira and Michael Singer. It’s a deep dive, let me tell ya. It’s so interesting as you learn, you realize there’s so much more to learn!
“Realize our true nature is peace and joy and connected to everything and everyone.” Rupert Spira.
We use other things to ‘be happy’ but happiness is always there. We’re often waiting for it to be triggered by external things (separate self) but we can go directly to it without needing to get it externally.
Happiness can be precipitated by something else, but it’s all the same (happy) experience. You can be happy with ice cream, happy in a new relationship, happy on a vacation.
When you can see that - that it doesn’t belong to the object (the situation, relationship, status) this is profound. It comes from the inside and is potential in us all the time, ready for us.
Sure, it can be triggered by the external circumstance, but not delivered by it.
The trigger is not important because the happiness itself is independent of the trigger.
This is called the direct path or the pathless path, if you want to dig into this further.
Rupert says, once you have happiness, there’s nothing else ‘to do.’ The purpose of life is to be happy (many say this). So when you’re happy there’s no desire to achieve anything else. You’ve arrived at the happiness you seek. (This I have understood to be very true).
I’ve been learning a lot about our consciousness (awareness). Also called our true self, pure awareness, non-duality. There’s a lot to it. A big paradigm shift from how we’ve been conditioned to see the world and relate to ourselves. It's been a great way to let go of expectations and helps me remain peaceful no matter what is going on around me.
Michael Singer is reminding me, once again, that our thoughts and emotions can be separated. We can become the observer. If we can just witness them and not believe everything the mind tells us and not dwell in negative emotions (let them pass and surrender but not bury them), we can find our true essence. Which is peace, love and joy. Naturally. Within.
This is what we call the soul journey. And ya, it takes a while and there’s a lot to learn.
Happy learning!
All my love,
K 💛
